The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic closely monitors the development of the situation in Ukraine, including the recent events around the Crimea, and expresses its concern over the escalation of the conflict.

The Kyrgyz Republic, as before, is of the opinion that it was the ill-considered actions and the corruption of the former Ukrainian authorities that led to today's crisis and the deaths of dozens of innocent people.

At the same time, the results of the referendum in Crimea of March 16 of this year represent the will of the absolute majority of the population of the Autonomous Republic. And this is also an objective reality, no matter what polar evaluations are given to this referendum.

Therefore, today the responsibility of those politicians who have taken the fate of the country in their hands in such a difficult period is extremely high. Any initiatives and actions should be aimed solely at preserving fragile peace and stability in Ukraine and in the region as a whole, and forceful methods of confrontation are unacceptable.

Kyrgyzstan in its recent history has experienced two revolutions. The country's experience after the April 2010 revolution shows the extreme importance of the succession of international partners in their intentions and actions, without pursuing a policy of “double standards”.

The Kyrgyz Republic calls on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and resolve all disputed issues through peaceful negotiations within the framework of international law and the UN Charter.
