Visa issues
Entry into the Kyrgyz Republic, stay on its territory and departure from the Kyrgyz Republic to foreign citizens is allowed on valid foreign passports and on the basis of visas of the Kyrgyz Republic issued by the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Presently foreign citizens and stateless persons with electronic visas of the Kyrgyz Republic can cross the State Border of the Kyrgyz Republic at the following international checkpoints:

Visa and visa free regime
Within the framework of the Agreement on visa-free movement of citizens of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States on the territory of its participants, signed on October 9, 1992 in Bishkek, a visa-free regime applies to citizens holding all categories of national passports:
1. Azerbaijan
2. Armenia
3. Georgia
4. Moldova.
Within the framework of the Agreements between the Government of the Republic of Belarus, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Government of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on mutual visa-free trips of citizens, signed on November 30, 2000 in Minsk, in relation to citizens of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan has a visa-free regime.
Within the framework of previously concluded (according to the principle of “tacit consent” applied in international law on the continuation of the application of international obligations until the stage of conclusion and entry into new international treaties) agreements between the former USSR and the following foreign states, a visa-free regime is in effect:
1. Socialist Republic of Vietnam (Agreement between the Government of the USSR and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on the conditions for mutual trips of citizens of July 15, 1981);
2. Democratic People's Republic of Korea (Agreement between the Government of the USSR and the Government of the DPRK on the conditions for mutual travel of citizens of January 22, 1986);
3. Republic of Cuba (Agreement between the Government of the USSR and the Government of the Republic of Cuba on the conditions for mutual trips of citizens of January 10, 1985);
4. Lao People's Democratic Republic (Agreement between the Government of the USSR and the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on a visa-free regime for citizens of both states making business trips on diplomatic or official passports of December 20, 1984).
Within the framework of the Agreements between the Kyrgyz Republic and the following foreign states, a visa-free regime applies:
1. Malaysia (visa-free regime up to 30 days, Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of Malaysia on the partial abolition of the visa regime, signed on July 20, 1995 in Kuala Lumpur);
2. Turkey (visa-free regime up to 60 days, Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on mutual trips of citizens, signed on September 5, 2006 in Ankara);
3. Ukraine (visa-free regime up to 90 days, Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on mutual trips of citizens, signed on February 25, 2004 in Kyiv);
4. Uzbekistan (visa-free regime up to 60 days, Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on mutual trips of citizens, signed on September 3, 2006 in Tashkent);
5. Mongolia (visa-free regime up to 90 days, Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of Mongolia on the conditions for mutual trips of citizens, signed on December 4, 1999 in Bishkek).
In accordance with the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On the introduction of a visa-free regime for citizens of certain states for up to 60 days” (unilateral decision of the Kyrgyz Republic), citizens of the following states are exempted from visa requirements for up to 60 days for entry / exit of stay in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic:

Within the framework of the Agreements on mutual visa-free regime for the period established by these agreements (the following have entered into force), citizens of the following countries, holders of diplomatic and service passports are subject to a visa-free regime:

13. French Republic (visa-free regime up to 90 days within 180 days) (diplomatic passport of the Kyrgyz Republic - Agreement on mutual exemption from visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports, signed in Bishkek on 30.03.2016)
14. Italian Republic (visa-free regime up to 90 days within 180 days) (diplomatic passport of the Kyrgyz Republic - Agreement between the Government of the Italian Republic and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on mutual exemption from short-term visas for holders of diplomatic passports, signed in Paris on 15.04.2016 ).
15. Kingdom of Morocco (visa-free regime up to 90 days within 180 days) (Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco on exemption from visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports, signed in Rabat on 30.03.2017).
About visa types and categories
Business visa («B») – is issued to an applicant, entering Kyrgyz Republic with business purposes, to participate in negotiations, conferences and meetings, sport events, organized by state offices and local governments, international organizations and legal entities up to 60 days.
Family visa («F») is issued to the family members (spouse, underage children and dependent parents) of a foreign citizen, residing in Kyrgyz Republic with the Official (“О”), Invest (“I”), Employment («W1» и «W2»), Study («S») visa categories, and on the basis of residence permit, for a period up to 1 year with the possibility of annual extension without the right to work.
Guest visa («G») is issued to the applicant for a period of up to 60 days, entering the Kyrgyz Republic for various purposes of private nature, to visit friends and acquaintances or to receive medical services.
Invest visa («I») is issued to the investor or head of foreign investment company who carry out investment activity in Kyrgyz Republic and submit necessary supporting documents, certifying contribution to the economy of Kyrgyz Republic of the monetary and material values, equivalent to the amount of 10 (ten) million soms, for industrial, agricultural, financial, energy, educational, medical, engineering and constructional purposes, and also IT technologies.
Mountain tourism visa («MT») is issued to a foreign citizen for visiting the Kyrgyz Republic for the purpose of alpine tourism (alpinism, climbing, snowboarding, rafting, freeriding, etc.).
Relatives visa («O») for visiting relatives or family reunion is issued for a period of up to 1 year to an applicant entering the Kyrgyz Republic for temporary or permanent residence or obtaining refugee status.
Religious visa ("R") is issued to a missionary who intends to visit the Kyrgyz Republic through cooperation with religious organizations, subject to a permit issued by the authorized state body for religious Affairs, for a period of up to 60 days.
Official visa («O») is issued to a foreign citizen, bearer of an official passport, intending to visit Kyrgyz Republic with official affairs.
Official visa is issued to:
- a foreign citizen, entering the Kyrgyz Republic by the invitation of state offices of the Kyrgyz Republic with official affairs - visa up to 90 days.
- a member of an administrative-technical and maintenance staff of a diplomatic mission or consular office of foreign county in Kyrgyz Republic or employee of an international organization representation (spouse and children under 18 years of age, and dependent parents), - visa up to 1 year, unless otherwise is provided by an international treaty, that has entered into legal force, the participant of which is the Kyrgyz Republic, or according to the principle of reciprocity;
- a foreign courier carrying diplomatic mail, if he does not have a diplomatic passport – visa up to 90 days, unless otherwise is provided by an international treaty, that has entered into legal force, the participant of which is Kyrgyz Republic, or according to the principle of reciprocity.
Student visa («S») is issued to an applicant, entering Kyrgyz Republic to study, up to 90 days.
Student visa («S») on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic can be extended for a period up to 1 year if studying at a higher educational institution or for the duration of a studying course in the initially declared educational institution of Kyrgyz Republic, registered on the territory of Kyrgyz Republic.
Tourist visa («TS») is issued to an applicant, intending to visit Kyrgyz Republic with purpose of tourism, for a period up to 60 days.
Visa to ethnic Kyrgyz (“M”) is issued for a period of up to 1 year for visiting or returning the Kyrgyz Republic to a foreign citizen - ethnic Kyrgyz, a former citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic or the Kyrgyz SSR for further obtaining “Kairylman” status (an ethnic Kyrgyz who has returned to his or her ethnic motherland from abroad).
Employment visa («W1») is issued to an applicant for getting a work permit or for individual entrepreneurship. This type of visa lets applicant enter Kyrgyz Republic up to 60 days without permission to work and individual entrepreneurship.
After getting work permit, Consular service or Ministry of foreign affairs representation on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic issues applicant multiple employment visa («W1») for the validity period of the work permit.
Employment visa («W2») is issued to applicants, for whom, in accordance with the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On External Labor Migration” there is a different procedure of performing labor activity, without getting work permit, up to 90 days.
Employment visa («W2») can be extended annually on the territory of Kyrgyz Republic by Consular service or Ministry of foreign affairs representation on the territory of Kyrgyz Republic on the basis of the certificate of an authorized state office in the field of migration or accreditation (for journalists and correspondents).
Diplomatic visa («D») is issued to a foreign citizen, holder of the diplomatic passport, intending to visit Kyrgyz Republic with official affairs.
Diplomatic visa is issued to:
- heads of foreign states, governments, family members, accompanying them, and to the members of foreign official delegations – visa up to 30 days, unless otherwise is provided by an international treaty, that has entered into legal force, the participant of which is Kyrgyz Republic, or according to the principle of reciprocity.
- person, holding diplomatic or consular position in a diplomatic mission or consular office of foreign country, executive of an international organization representation in Kyrgyz Republic, enjoying immunities and privileges in Kyrgyz Republic, and his/her family members (spouse and children under 18 years of age, and dependent parents), enjoying immunities and privileges, - visa up to 1 year, unless otherwise is provided by an international treaty, that has entered into legal force, the participant of which is Kyrgyz Republic, or according to the principle of reciprocity.
- foreign diplomatic courier – visa up to 90 days, unless otherwise is provided by an international treaty, that has entered into legal force, the participant of which is Kyrgyz Republic, or according to the principle of reciprocity.
