On October 3, 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev met with Meszaros Marta, the daughter of the famous sculptor Laszlo Meszaros and her sons, in Budapest.

Laszlo Meszaros emigrated to Kyrgyzstan in 1935 as part of a group of Hungarian settlers in the Intergelpo cooperative. He made a great contribution to the appearance of a modern capital. During the period of rapid development of the Soviet industry, he was engaged in the design and construction of new buildings. His projects included the building of the Government House, the railway station and the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.

His daughter M.Meszaros is an Honored Artist of Hungary, the Director and the Laureate of many international awards in the field of art. Her one of the most famous works «Diaries of My Children» is the first film about the repressions in the USSR, shot behind «the Iron Curtain».

During the meeting she spoke about her desire to visit Kyrgyzstan again and turned to Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev with a request to help to find documents evidencing her father’s life, who was detained by the NKVD in 1937 and subsequently shot. She also asked for help in preserving the memory of her father for the younger generations of Hungarians and Kyrgyz.

In response to M.Meszaros's requests Minister R.Kazakbaev said that he would make a request to the competent authorities to search for archival information about the reasons for the detention of her father and would appeal to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov with proposals to preserve the memory of her father. He noted that one of the streets in the capital of Kyrgyzstan bears the name of a famous sculptor, which is a confirmation of the recognition of L.Meszaros's merits in Kyrgyzstan. «Your father’s story is a common history of our peoples, a story about the hope that you have carried throughout your life», the Minister noted. During the meeting in the family circle, the Minister presented M.Meszaros with memorable gifts on the occasion of her 90th birthday and wished her good health and long life.
