Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic

On November 28, 2021, the elections of members of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of the Kyrgyz Republic were held. On December 15, 2021, the Central Commission on Elections and Referenda of the Kyrgyz Republic has summed up the final results of the elections and recognized them as valid.

In addition to the results of Presidential elections of the Kyrgyz Republic and the referendum on the form of governance on January 10, 2021, elections of members of local councils and the referendum on the draft Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic on April 11, 2021, the parliamentary elections on November 28, 2021, marked the final political milestone and another important step toward creating conditions for the implementation of the envisaged reforms by the leadership of the country as well as for the transition to accelerated development after the events of October last year.

The voting took place in all 2 494 Precinct Election Commissions, including 59 in the diplomatic missions of the Kyrgyz Republic abroad. The elections were observed by 732 international observers from 52 organizations representing 58 countries of the world.

The international observers underlined the high organizational level of the electoral process and noted that the elections were generally competitive, fair and transparent. Identified shortcomings, as well as individual comments and suggestions made by the international observers are important for Kyrgyzstan for further improvement of the electoral system of the country and the national legislation.

The Kyrgyz side expresses its sincere gratitude to international partners for the technical assistance in organizing and holding the elections, as well as for sending international observers, including those from CIS, CSTO, SCO, ODIHR/OSCE, TURKPA, Organization of Turkic States, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and others who took an active part in monitoring the preparation and holding elections of members of the Jogorku Kenesh.

Conducting transparent, open and fair elections and referenda on January 10, April 11 and November 28, 2021, has once again proved that the only source of power in the Kyrgyz Republic is and will be the multi-ethnic people of Kyrgyzstan being the main guarantor of that our country will not turn away from the path of democracy.

Kyrgyzstan has been and remains open to dialogue with the international community on all matters of interaction and cooperation.
