Ruslan Kazakbaev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic met with Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of India

On December 19, 2021 in New Delhi  Ruslan Kazakbaev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, held the bilateral meeting with  Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of India in the framework of his participation in the Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of India-Central Asia Dialogue.

During the conversation, the Ministers discussed wide range of issues of Kyrgyz-Indian bilateral cooperation, including the areas of political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian partnership. The parties paid special attention to the preparation for the upcoming visit of Mr. Sadyr Zhaparov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, to India in January 2022 in the framework of participation in the India-Central Asia Summit. The Indian side expressed interest in bringing the bilateral relations between India and the countries of Central Asia to even higher level of cooperation.

Minister R.Kazakbaev paid particular attention to the importance of conducting all the planned activities, particularly, the 10th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Indian Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic, scientific and technical cooperation, as well as events within the framework of the Сross Kyrgyz-Indian Cultural Year. He highlighted that despite restrictions due to the epidemiological situation this year, Kyrgyzstan and India were able to carry out a number of important bilateral events.

With view to enhancing trade and economic cooperation, the parties agreed to hold a number of Kyrgyz-Indian Business Forums both in Kyrgyzstan and India, accelerate negotiation of terms of the credit line worth of 200 million USD and implement joint projects through the grant assistance from the Government of India, such as educational IT center in Bishkek in one of the universities of the Kyrgyz Republic. In addition, agreements were reached on the following issues: extension of the project «Telemedicine» to all regions of the Kyrgyz Republic and joint archaeological research of Buddhist temples in the Kyrgyz Republic. The Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and India also discussed in detail issues related to the expansion of military-technical cooperation.

Minister S.Jaishankar expressed gratitude to the Kyrgyz side for the support and participation in the India-CA Ministerial Dialogue. He noted that support of the Kyrgyz side for India’s proposal to hold the India-CA Summit proves the high level of the Kyrgyz-Indian bilateral relations of strategic partnership.
