Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov

On March 11, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov in Antalya as part of participation in the Second Antalya Diplomacy Forum.

During the meeting the sides discussed topical issues on the agenda of Kyrgyz-Uzbek cooperation and further ways to strengthen cooperation both in bilateral and multilateral formats.

Special attention was paid to the organization of upcoming foreign policy events at the highest and highest levels.

Regarding the activation of cross-border and interregional cooperation, the parties noted the importance of holding a regular meeting of the Council of Plenipotentiary Representatives of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the border regions and the khokims of the border regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the near future in Kyrgyzstan.

The parties also expressed readiness to continue joint work in the field of trade, economic and investment cooperation for further dynamic growth of trade turnover and bringing its volume to 2 (two) billion US dollars.

In this context, R.Kazakbaev noting the entry into force of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the establishment of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund and the beginning of its practical implementation, proposed to intensify the activities of this Fund, including through the implementation of projects for the construction of a trade and logistics center for cross-border trade in the city of Kyzyl-Kiya and the Irkeshtam-Daraot-Korgon-Uch-Korgon highway. The dynamics of active interaction between the parties regarding the supply of electricity from Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan was noted.

In addition, the sides exchanged views on the current international and regional agenda. Touching upon the situation around Ukraine, the parties agreed on the need for immediate de-escalation, cessation of hostilities and return to the negotiating table in order to resolve the conflict by political and diplomatic means.
