The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Zheenbek Kulubaev held bilateral talks with the Member of the State Council, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Mr. Wang Yi, during the latter’s official visit to Kyrgyzstan.

At the briefing for reporters, Mr. Kulubaev noted that cooperation with China is a priority in foreign policy of the Kyrgyz Republic.

There are no political issues and disagreements between Kyrgyzstan and China that hinder the further progressive development of bilateral relations, which are characterized by a comprehensive strategic partnership.

Over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kyrgyzstan, significant results have been achieved in all priority areas of bilateral cooperation.

The sides intend to further strengthen the political dialogue and make efforts to implement the agreements reached between the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Sadyr Zhaparov and the President of China Mr. Xi Jinping on the further development of friendship, good-neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation.

According to Wang Yi, a Member of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, over 30 years bilateral relations have gone a long way. Under the strategic leadership of the heads of states, China and Kyrgyzstan have become good neighbors, good friends, partners and brothers. The parties need to strengthen solidarity, support each other in matters of sovereignty, security, as well as the chosen path of development with its own national characteristics.

China and Kyrgyzstan are actively cooperating in the field of security and jointly counteract traditional threats and new challenges.

The Kyrgyz side supports China's Global Security Initiative and Global Development Initiative aimed at strengthening mutual trust, ensuring joint security and sustainable development.

Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev also stated that during the talks with Minister Wang Yi, issues of developing trade and economic ties and investment cooperation were discussed.

The sides intend to actively work on the implementation of the Program of medium and long-term development of trade and economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China until 2030.

The sides are interested in increasing the level of trade turnover and increasing the cargo traffic, optimizing the operation of border checkpoints, and exporting Kyrgyz agricultural products to China. The sides also agreed to work on the development of e-commerce and attracting investments in the field of renewable energy sources in Kyrgyzstan.

Ministers also expressed unity of opinion on the importance of the practical implementation of the «China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan» railway construction project. In mid-July of this year, the first group of Chinese experts arrived in Kyrgyzstan, which together with Kyrgyz specialists is engaged in conducting field surveys on the Kyrgyz section of the road.

Member of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Mr. Wang Yi noted that the «China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan» railway is a strategic project of regional interconnectedness. As a result of the joint efforts of the three countries, the practical implementation of the railway construction project has been launched.

The Chinese Minister also stated the importance of accelerating the implementation of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative and working together to plan bilateral cooperation for the next 30 years to bring Kyrgyz-Chinese relations of comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level and create a Community of Common Destiny of China and Kyrgyzstan to contribute to the strengthening the Community of Common Destiny of China and Central Asia and the Community of the Common Destiny for Mankind as a whole.

The foreign ministers also exchanged views on the implementation of grant infrastructure projects in Kyrgyzstan and noted the importance of the construction of the Bypass Chui Canal-2 in Kyrgyzstan.

This project, as well as other hydraulic engineering facilities that will be built at the expense of grants from the Chinese Government, in the current conditions of low water are designed to solve the problems of irrigation water supply and will contribute to strengthening food security, as well as the development of agriculture in the Kyrgyz Republic.

China will continue to support Kyrgyzstan in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of healthcare will be further strengthened.  

In order to further enhance cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the sides agreed to open a «Lu Ban Workshop» in Kyrgyzstan for the development of professional technical education, as well as to establish cultural centers to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.

Through cooperation within the UN and regional organizations, the practice of mutual support on important initiatives and key issues of mutual interest will continue.
