2nd of March – the date of entry of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Nations

On March 2, 1992, during the 46th session of the UN General Assembly, in accordance with the recommendation of the UN Security Council and resolution 46/225 of the UN General Assembly, Kyrgyzstan was unanimously admitted to the United Nations.

The Kyrgyz Republic, as the responsible member of the UN, from the beginning of its statehood, has firmly and consistently observed the universally recognized goals and principles enshrined in the UN Charter. On the international stage the Kyrgyz side is trying in good faith to fulfill its obligations. The Kyrgyz Republic always strives to "resolve its international disputes by peaceful means".

The Kyrgyz side notes the support and assistance provided by the UN in the formation of political, public and civil institutions, the strengthening of democracy, and the development of a free-market economy.

The Kyrgyz Republic views the UN as an authoritative and universal international organization that is the decision-making center on the most important global issues, such as maintaining peace and security, developing friendly relations between nations, sustainable development, poverty reduction, respect for human rights, environmental protection, adaptation and climate change mitigation, disease control and many other modern challenges and threats to mankind.

Kyrgyzstan has been repeatedly elected to various elected bodies of the UN and the governing structures of its specialized agencies. Currently, the Kyrgyz Republic has put forward its candidacy for non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for 2027-2028 and conducting election campaign.

Kyrgyzstan contributes to the activities of the Organization and strengthening its authority. At the initiative of the Kyrgyz side, the UN General Assembly adopted some resolutions that contributed focusing attention of the world community to the country, its culture and history, nature and ecology, as well as the problems and challenges of timeliness. On December 14, 2022, the 77th session of the UN General Assembly unanimously without a vote and co-sponsored by 109 UN member states adopted the resolution “Sustainable mountain development”. At the initiative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Sadyr Zhaparov this resolution declared 2023-2027 the "Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions".

The Kyrgyz Republic strongly supports the UN as the one and only universal structure mandated by all UN member states to resolve emergent challenges facing humanity. In turn, Kyrgyzstan expresses the hope that the UN will continue to properly contribute to the solution of urgent global problems.
