A round table on the topic: "The 20th anniversary of the SCO Charter: history, achievements, prospects" was held

On June 29 this year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic organized a round table on the topic: "The 20th anniversary of the SCO Charter: history, achievements, prospects" at the K.Dikambayev Diplomatic Academy.

The event was attended by the Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Muratbek Azymbakiev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Azizbek Madmarov, Rector of the Diplomatic Academy MFA KR Chinara Adamkulova, as well as ambassadors of the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Tajikistan, Charge d'affaires of the Republic of India and representatives of the Embassies of Kazakhstan and Russia.

SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming sent a video message to the participants of the round table. The heads of the National Institute for Strategic Studies and the Institute for Economic Policy Research of the Kyrgyz Republic slso made reports.

In his speech, the Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, M. Azymbakiev, noted that the Kyrgyz Republic, as the founding state of the SCO, strictly follows the principles and provisions of the SCO Charter, and also stands for the further development of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between its members.

The participants of the event stressed that the SCO Charter laid a solid legal foundation for the development of the entire spectrum of interaction between the member states of the Organization, which covers almost all spheres of life and areas of mutual cooperation.

Following the results of the round table, the participants agreed to continue cooperation in order to further strengthen the SCO.

For reference: The SCO Charter was adopted during the St.Petersburg SCO Heads of State meeting   on June 7, 2002 as a statutory document fixing the goals and principles of the SCO, its structure and main activities.
