On April 19, 2023 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Kingdom of Belgium A. Erkin met with the Regional Manager of the Wallonia Export and Investment Agency (AWEX) A. Tonkikh and AWEX Trade and Investment Advisor for Central Asia A. Musakanova.

During the meeting, in addition to establishing business contacts, the contours of further interaction were outlined, and the importance of economic diplomacy was noted. In particular, they discussed upcoming business mission from Belgium to Kyrgyzstan scheduled for June 2023, prospects for increasing the export of goods from Kyrgyzstan, taking into account the existing GSP + preference regime, including the export of honey, bottled water, etc., as well as economic cooperation in general.

In addition, a presentation of investment projects in the Kyrgyz Republic were shown to AWEX representatives. The parties noted the positive dynamics of growth in trade turnover between the Kyrgyz Republic and Belgium and the importance of strengthening the economic component of bilateral cooperation.

As a result of the meeting, the intention to strengthen trade and business ties between the business communities of the two countries was confirmed.
