Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan Ulanbek Totuiaev discussed topical issues of Kyrgyz-Pakistani cooperation with the President of the Faisalabad Women's Chamber of Commerce Nigat Shahid

On June 28, 2022, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan H.E. Mr. Ulanbek Totuiaev met with the President of the Faisalabad Women's Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mrs. Nighat Shahid.

During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of Kyrgyz-Pakistani cooperation, in particular, prospects for cooperation in the field of the textile industry, import-export of food, mining, and agriculture.

Ambassador U.Totuiaev emphasized the significant role of women in business development in Kyrgyzstan and informed the Pakistani side about promising areas of cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic, including through the implementation of joint investment projects, expressed his readiness to assist in establishing and establishing contacts between business representatives of the two sides.

In her turn, Mrs. N.Shahid, noting the interest of representatives of the business community of Faisalabad in entering the market of Central Asian countries and, in particular, Kyrgyzstan, announced her intention to work more actively in this direction together with the Kyrgyz side.

The parties agreed to organize business visits to the Kyrgyz Republic in the near future for representatives of Faisalabad companies working in the textile industry.

For information: Faisalabad is the third largest city in Pakistan (about 4 million people). In the province of the same name, 87% are Punjabis, 98% of the population are Sunni Muslims of the Hanafi persuasion. The city is famous for its textile products, which are produced by both industrial enterprises and thousands of small family enterprises, providing 68% of its exports. The chemical, food, and pharmaceutical industries are also well developed in the city. The lands of Faisalabad are very fertile, where wheat, cotton, oranges, bananas, apples, tangerines, mangoes, guava and sugarcane are grown. Not far from the city is one of the largest rice factories in Pakistan.
