Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Korea H.E. Dinara Kemelova visited the Rural Development Administration of the Republic of Korea and met with Mr. Kim Kyeongkyu, the Administrator – Director General

On June 2nd, 2020, in Jeonju Kyrgyz delegation led by Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Korea H.E. Dinara Kemelova visited the Rural Development Administration of the Republic of Korea and met with Mr. Kim Kyeongkyu, the Administrator – Director General.

During the meeting, the Korean side signed the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of agricultural sciences and technologies between the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Industry and Melioration of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Rural Development Administration of the Republic of Korea. This document was previously signed by the Minister of Agriculture, Food Industry and Land Reclamation of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. E.Choduev and transmitted through diplomatic channels.

Within the framework of this Memorandum, in Kyrgyzstan will be established the Center of Korea Project on International Agriculture (KOPIA), which will promote cooperation in the field of agricultural research, capacity building of Kyrgyzstan in crop and seed production, cultivating seeds adapted to local conditions and generally raising agricultural productivity.

The main mission of the Korean Program (KOPIA) is as follows:

  • The development of locally adapted technologies and cultivation of seeds by transferring experience of the Korean side;
  • Dissemination of localized technologies and practices in rural areas and farmers to increase their income;
  • Capacity building of civil servants, experts, scientists, farmers, through exchange and other programs.
