Deputy Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Aibek Artykbaev met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Hussain Qureshi

On December 19, 2021, on the sidelines of the 17th extraordinary session of the Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries on Afghanistan, the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Aibek Artykbaev met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Hussain Qureshi.
During the conversation, the parties discussed a wide range of Kyrgyz-Pakistani bilateral cooperation, including the issues of holding the 4th meeting of the Joint Ministerial Commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, inter-ministerial consultations, ways of recognition by the Pakistani Medical Commission of medical universities of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the opening of direct regular flights between Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan.
A.Artykbaev noted the relevance of the OIC meeting in Islamabad to mobilize the efforts of the international community in order to prevent the humanitarian and economic crisis in Afghanistan, to ensure peace, stability and security in the region.
In terms of bilateral Kyrgyz-Pakistani cooperation, A.Artykbaev informed the Pakistani side about the socio-economic and internal political situation in Kyrgyzstan at the moment, and also noted the readiness of the leadership of the Kyrgyz Republic to deepen and intensify bilateral relations at all levels.
In particular, the Kyrgyz side noted the importance of organizing visits at the highest and high levels, the development of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as military-technical cooperation.
In turn, Minister Sh.M. Qureshi stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations in the context of energy cooperation, development of transport and logistics ties and humanitarian interaction. Sh.M. Qureshi noted the need for closer regional cooperation, including within the framework of the OIC and the SCO, as well as joining efforts to resolve the Afghan crisis as soon as possible.
