Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Azizbek Madmarov took part in the High-Level International Conference "Regional cooperation of Central Asia countries in the framework of the Joint Action Plan for the implementation of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia"

On March 3, 2022, in Tashkent, the High-Level International Conference "Regional cooperation of Central Asia countries in the framework of the Joint Action Plan for the implementation of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia" has started its work.

The Kyrgyz Republic is represented by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Azizbek Madmarov, as the head of the delegation, the Deputy Akyikatchy (Ombudsman) of the Kyrgyz Republic Albert Kolopov and representatives of the State Committee for National Security, the Prosecutor General's Office and the National Institute for Strategic Studies.

During the opening of the event, Deputy Minister A. Madmarov given the deteriorating situation in the world caused by new challenges and growing threats of terrorism and extremism emphasized the relevance and timeliness of the Conference. In his speech head of the delegation stressed the commitment of the Kyrgyz Republic to the further effective implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, which is a unique global document aimed to strengthen national, regional and international efforts to combat terrorism, and informed about the measures taken by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic to implement the Joint Action Plan for the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia.

Representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic will participate in the thematic panel discussion on the margins of the event. It is expected that the Conference will adopt the updated Joint Action Plan for the implementation of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia and the Tashkent Declaration as an outcome document of the event.

Over 600 officials and leading experts from the EU, Central and South Asia, China, Russia, USA, the Middle East including the representatives of international and regional organizations and NGOs are taking part in the event.

The conference is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), as well as the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
