First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Nuran Niyazaliev participated in the 17th Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) in the video conference format

On January 21, 2021, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Nuran Niyazaliev participated in the 17th Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) in the video conference format.

During the meeting, the issues of developing the tourism potential of the ACD member countries were discussed, the importance of expanding cooperation and coordinating measures to contain the pandemic, as well as promoting sustainable economic recovery was noted.

First Deputy Minister Niyazaliev in his statement briefly informed about the internal political changes in the Kyrgyz Republic, focusing on the stabilization of situation in the country, as well as the results of the past presidential elections and the referendum.

Emphasizing the great potential of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of tourism, the Head of the Kyrgyz delegation called on the ACD member countries to cooperate closely in the development of the tourism industry, which will not only explore the world's cultural diversity and bring countries and peoples closer together, but will also contribute to the economic growth of Asian countries. In the context of the ongoing pandemic, Mr. Niyazaliev proposed to promote the practice of developing safe tourism and in this regard called on participating countries and international organizations, such as the World Health Organization, the World Tourism Organization and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to share their experience gained recently. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of a fair distribution of coronavirus vaccines among all countries, since otherwise the tourism industry around the world will be seriously damaged.

As a result of the videoconference, the parties adopted the Ankara Declaration and the ACD Cooperation Plan for 2021-2030, reflecting the current directions of regional cooperation.

For reference: The Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) was established on June 19, 2002 in Cha-Am (Thailand) during the 1st Meeting of Foreign Ministers.

The Asia Cooperation Dialogue was established with the aim of conducting dialogues, consultations, decision-making and implementation of measures based on consensus on issues related to interaction in Asia in various areas of political and economic cooperation. The ACD consists of 34 states, including all Central Asian countries and Kyrgyzstan in particular.
