Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev met with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken as he attended the "Central Asia + U.S. Ministerial Meeting"

On February 28, 2023, Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev met with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken as he attended the "Central Asia + U.S. Ministerial Meeting" in Astana.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed the bilateral agenda, perspective areas of cooperation, as well as joint plans for cooperation in 2023.

The parties highlighted the possibilities of strengthening trade and economic as well as investment cooperation. Minister Zh. Kulubaev expressed interest in attracting American companies with new technologies and modern production to the spheres of green economy, energy, digitalization and other areas of mutual interest.

The parties emphasized their commitment to continued work in promoting regional stability and security in Central Asia. The head of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry expressed his gratitude to the U.S. side for its assistance in the repatriation of Kyrgyz nationals from Syria, indicating his hope for the completion of this process in the near future. The U.S. side welcomed Kyrgyz efforts to address interstate border issues as a contributor to strengthening regional stability and security.

In addition, the parties discussed matters of facilitating and optimizing visa issuance for citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
