Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic Luigi Di Maio

On 8th December 2021 in Tashkent on sidelines of ministerial meeting “Italian Republic+Central Asia” the Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic Luigi Di Maio.

The Foreign ministers highlighted the importance to build close cooperation and expressed mutual interest in further expansion and strengthening of trade, economic and investment cooperation with Italy by using as well the status of Kyrgyzstan's GSP +. In this context, parties noted the Kyrgyz-Italian business forum held earlier in Bishkek and planned to organize the country presentation concerning the economic and tourism potential which would give an additional impetus to attract Italian investment to Kyrgyzstan.

Parties especially focused on the implementation of the agreements reached on the visit of Minister R.Kazakbaev to Rome, such as establishment the Kyrgyz-Italian investment fund and the consideration of possibility to establish Italian Embassy in Bishkek. Parties also expressed mutual readiness to organize the visit of Kyrgyz President S.Japarov to Italy and the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation L.Di Maio to Kyrgyzstan in the first half of 2022.

During the meeting two ministers convey their commitment to expand the legal framework between the countries, and the speed up all documents that are under the consideration of sides.  

In the context of regional security, parties have constructive exchange of views on the situation in Afghanistan as well as the importance of joint cooperation in providing humanitarian and other assistance to the people of Afghanistan was noted.

At the end of the meeting, the parties noted the importance of strengthening and diversifying all areas of mutual interest.
