Nuran Niyazaliev, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic met with Mr. Norbert Neuser, Member of the European Parliament

On May 12, 2021, Nuran Niyazaliev, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic met with Mr. Norbert Neuser, Member of the European Parliament.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the consistent development of the Kyrgyz-European interaction. The friendly character of the bilateral partnership, which is acquiring positive dynamics in recent years, was emphasized. In particular, a number of contacts at the highest and high levels will take place this year alone.

The interlocutors stressed the need to further expand relations between Kyrgyzstan and the EU. It was noted that in this regard, the speedy conclusion of the Agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Union is of great importance. The parties expressed their readiness to support this comprehensive document, which serves the interests of both sides.

Regarding the current situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, N. Niyazaliev noted the importance of resolving the conflict only through a constructive peaceful dialogue between the parties, stressed the need to comply with the previously reached agreements on a ceasefire and withdrawal of troops. At the same time, he assured about the adherence of the Kyrgyz Republic to bilateral and international obligations and agreements. The Deputy Minister also expressed hope for the support of the European Union in the process of reconstruction and peacebuilding work in the Batken region.

For his part, N. Neuser expressed sympathy and solidarity with the Kyrgyz people in connection with the loss of life and a large number of victims of the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, noting the coordinated actions of the Kyrgyz authorities to eliminate its consequences.
