On May 6, 2019, the official opening ceremony of the photo exhibition devoted to the celebration of Victory Day on May 9 "Women in war: courageous and heroism" took place at the UN headquarters in New York. The exhibition was organized by the Permanent Missions of several states of the former Soviet Union to the UN, including the Kyrgyz Republic. The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, heads and representatives of the Permanent Missions of the UN member states and the UN Secretariat participated at the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition.

During the opening ceremony of the exhibition, the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN M.Moldoisaeva spoke on behalf of the Permanent Representatives of the countries - organizers of the exhibition.

In welcoming speech, M. Moldoisaeva noted the role and contribution of women in achieving victory over Nazism, heroism and courage of women during the Second World War.

Distinguished guests of the exhibition observed a minute of silence in memory of those who bravely fought against Nazism and sacrificed their lives to achieve peace on the planet.

In addition, the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, who also emphasized the heroism of women in achieving victory over Nazism, made a welcoming speech on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition.

During the exhibition, the organizing countries presented to the visitors of the exhibition stands with photos of the war years, which reflect the heroic role of women in achieving Victory. In particular, the stand presented by the Permanent Mission of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Nations, was devoted to the heroic work and bravery of the women of Kyrgyzstan during the Second World War. In addition, the stand reflected the feat of Toktogon Altybasarova, who became the mother for 150 children from besieged Leningrad during the war.
