The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Dinara Kemelova met with the Diplomatic Representative of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) Barkat Fazal

On July 26, 2022, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Dinara Kemelova met with Diplomatic Representative of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) Barkat Fazal.

The Deputy Minister expressed satisfaction with the current state of relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the AKDN, in which the parties are jointly solving urgent socio-economic challenges and are actively working to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable segments of the population in the highland regions of the republic, and also expressed gratitude for the humanitarian assistance provided to ethnic Kyrgyz in the Greater Pamir in Afghanistan.

D. Kemelova positively assessed the activities of the programs implemented by the AKDN in the Kyrgyz Republic and expressed her hope for assistance in continuing support from the Aga Khan Organization in the development of the country. In addition, the constant assistance of the AKDN to the ministries and departments of the Kyrgyz Republic in promoting projects and holding various events was noted.

The Deputy Minister noted that the current year, at the initiative of Kyrgyzstan, was declared by the UN General Assembly as the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development. In this regard, the Kyrgyz Republic during the year holds a number of events dedicated to sustainable mountain development. Taking the opportunity, she informed the interlocutor in detail about the mining initiatives of Kyrgyzstan.

AKDN representative B. Fazal confirmed his readiness to continue the implementation of projects in the Kyrgyz Republic, including those to support mountain communities.

The parties also discussed the possibility of the University of Central Asia to provide quality education not only to citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, but also to representatives of the Central Asian region.
