As part of the ongoing work on the promotion of the Economic Diplomacy, on October 6, 2021 the Director of the Sixth Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ermek Omuraliev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Ulanbek Totuyaev met with representatives of the business community of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, headed by the President of “Hac Agri” company Haruun Chaudry, whose visit was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in the IRP.

During the meeting, Mr. Omuraliev outlined the steps taken by the leadership and the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan to protect investments and business, informed about the  significant potential in the development of trade, economic and investment- production cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and Pakistan, using as an instance the Kyrgyz-Pakistani business forum that was held in December 2020, as a result of which a number of business representatives of the two countries established cooperation with each other. In this context, E. Omuraliev informed about a number of such advantages of the Kyrgyz Republic as the country's membership in the EAEU, the preferential GSP + regime for the range of commodity items when supplying Kyrgyz products to the markets of the EU countries, the geographical proximity of the Kyrgyz Republic to Afghanistan and China; and the demand for projects aimed on the establishment of trade and logistics complexes, due to which he urged the interlocutors to consider the possibility of opening a company / representative office in the Kyrgyz Republic with a commercial and investment mandate to create a TLC, aimed at the prospects of entering potential sales markets of a regional and international nature.

The head of the company "Hac Agri" H. Chaudri, noting the presence of the untapped potential of trade and economic cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and Pakistan, expressed:

- interest in the supply of Pakistani citrus and fruit products, which are not grown in the Kyrgyz Republic and could be supplied not only to the Kyrgyz market, but also through the Kyrgyz Republic to other potential sales markets in the region;

- to promote Kyrgyz export-oriented agricultural products through the potential of “Hac Agri” to the market of Pakistan and other potential countries;

- the willingness to consider and discuss the issue of investment and implementation in the Kyrgyz Republic of a project to create a pilot TLC for the procurement, processing / storage and packaging of fruits, vegetables, beans and legumes, in accordance with international standards.

At the same time, The Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Pakistan U. Totuyaev noted that taking into account the advantages of Kyrgyzstan, the Pakistani company expressed its intention to build a logistics warehouse in the Kyrgyz Republic for storing fruits and vegetables with controlled atmospheric pressure for subsequent distribution of products to other countries of the region. The head of the “Hac Agrı” company also informed that the representatives of the Pakistani delegation are interested particularly in the import of organic agricultural products of the Kyrgyz Republic (honey, dried fruits, prunes, beans and lentils, etc.).

In conclusion, the Parties expressed their readiness to concentrate efforts on discussing ways to develop and implement such specific projects. In this regard, the Department of Economic Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed the willingness of the Kyrgyz side to provide the necessary assistance and, in continuation, an agreement was reached to assist the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic / the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Pakistan in organizing additional meetings with both representatives of state bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic: - the Ministry of Investments, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Regional Development, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Kyrgyz Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and other potential business partners.

Within the framework of this visit, Pakistani businessmen will also hold meetings with representatives of state bodies and private structures of Kyrgyzstan.
