The First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Nuran Niyazaliev held bilateral meetings with the Managing Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, regional cooperation and the OSCE European External Action Service and Head of the Middle East and Central Asia Department of the Directorate General for International Partnerships of the European Commission

On September 7, 2021, in Brussels, First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Nuran Niyazaliev held bilateral meetings with the Managing Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, regional cooperation and the OSCE European External Action Service Mr Michael Siebert and Head of the Middle East and Central Asia Department of the Directorate General for International Partnerships of the European Commission Ms. Sarah Rinaldi.

Mr. Siebert congratulated on the anniversary of Independence day and wished the Kyrgyz Republic further prosperity and success on the path of democratic transformations, and also peace and prosperity to the people of Kyrgyzstan.

The parties positively noted the high level of Kyrgyz-European relations and reaffirmed their readiness to further strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest. They touched upon the issues of the planned bilateral high-level visits this year, the signing of a new Agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Union and the holding the First EU-CA Economic Forum in Bishkek on November 5, 2021.

The parties also discussed the project and program activities of the European Union in Kyrgyzstan within the framework of the Multi-Year Indicative Program and the Regional Indicative Program for 2021-2027.

Separately was raised the issue of vaccination of the population. Nuran Niyazaliev expressed gratitude to the European side for the provided assistance in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and assistance in obtaining the vaccine through the COVAX program as well as expressed his hope for receiving another batch in the near future. The Kyrgyz side also raised the issue of recognizing vaccination certificates to facilitate the entry of Kyrgyz citizens into the territory of the EU member states.

In the regional context parties discussed the current situation in Afghanistan and possible ways of cooperation in overcoming migration, humanitarian consequences and countering threats to regional security.

European side welcomed the decision of the Kyrgyz authorities to provide 500 visas to Afghan students to study at the universities.
