The Foreign Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Hungary exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations

April 16, 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and Hungary.

During this relatively short historical period, the countries have passed a fruitful way of cooperation, and in 2020 bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Hungary have reached the level of strategic partnership. The parties have done significant work to build Kyrgyz-Hungarian interstate relations based on a solid legal framework. A political dialogue has been established at the highest and high levels, as well as inter-parliamentary cooperation between our countries.

The opening of the Embassy of Hungary in Bishkek in 2020 and the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Budapest on October 4, 2021, has become a historic event in the development of bilateral cooperation. Another important step was the launch of the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, headquartered in Bishkek, on November 5, 2021.

Active work is being carried out within the framework of the Kyrgyz-Hungarian Strategic Council, the Kyrgyz-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, the Kyrgyz-Hungarian Business Council.

Currently, joint work is also underway to open direct flights on the Bishkek-Budapest-Bishkek route.

The parties attach great importance to cooperation in the field of education and cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Last year the Hungarian side decided to increase the scholarship quotas for the Kyrgyz students to study in the Hungarian universities to 200 quotas annually. Measures are being taken to further strengthen cooperation in the field of education and professional training.

Over the years, a stable dialogue has developed between the Kyrgyz Republic and Hungary within the framework of the European Union, the UN, and the Organization of Turkic States. Hungary supported the initiative of the Kyrgyz Republic to host the First EU-Central Asia Economic Forum, which took place on November 5, 2021 in Bishkek. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjártó and a business delegation of more than 15 Hungarian entrepreneurs took part in the Forum.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and Hungary the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjártó exchanged congratulatory messages.
