The Kyrgyz Republic delegation participated in the Surajkund International Crafts Mela

The Kyrgyz Republic delegation participated in the Surajkund International Crafts Mela held from 3-19 February, 2023 in Faridabad, Haryana.

This year the event had the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as the “Partner Nations” and the states of North Eastern Regions of Inida Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura as the “Theme State”.

The Kyrgyz Republic was represented by a 34 people delegation of artisans and cultural groups "Ak-Shoola", "Datkaiym" and "Kyz-Kerbez" from different parts of our country.

Participants from Kyrgyzstan at the event site presented domestic products, national dances and folk instruments, as well as the culture of the Kyrgyz people through traditional clothes and souvenirs.

The Kyrgyz pavilions at the festival gathered a large number of visitors and enjoyed great popularity, arousing interest and delight with environmentally friendly agricultural products, the variety and color of handicrafts and national clothes.

At the closing ceremony on February 19, Kyrgyz artists received the Surajkund Mela award for best parade contingent runners up.

For reference: Surajkund Mela is a fair where a variety of handicrafts from Indian states and foreign countries are presented, which annually gathers thousands of participants and today is the World’s largest craft fair.

The Mela has been regularly organized since 1981 by the Haryana Tourism and Union Ministries of Tourism, Textile, External Affairs & Culture.
