The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev met with European Union Special Representative for Central Asia Terhi Hakala and European Union Special Representative for Human Rights Eamon Gilmore

October 7, 2021, in Bishkek the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev met with European Union Special Representative for Central Asia Terhi Hakala and European Union Special Representative for Human Rights Eamon Gilmore.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation and interaction at the international level.

Ruslan Kazakbaev dwelled on the ongoing reforms in the country, as well as the upcoming elections to deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic and noted the commitment of the Kyrgyz Republic to democratic values and the continuation of the course, goals and principles established in international legal documents to which the Kyrgyz epublic is a party.

Eamon Gilmore noted the open and constructive nature of the Human Rights Dialogue between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union. He welcomed the invitation of international observers, including the OSCE/ODIHR, to the upcoming parliamentary elections in the Kyrgyz Republic on November 28, 2021 and wished success in holding the plebiscite.

The parties exchanged views on measures to improve the human rights situation in the Kyrgyz Republic and the EU, including the gender agenda, freedom of expression, issues of observance of the rule of law and the fight against corruption.

A special topic of discussion was the preparation of the First EU-CA Economic Forum on November 5, 2021 in Bishkek. Terhi Hakala expressed her gratitude for the initiative to hold the Forum in Bishkek.
