Рresentation of the Swiss-Kyrgyz Cooperation Program for the years of 2022-2025

On October 4, 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic hosted a presentation of the Swiss-Kyrgyz Cooperation Program for the years of 2022-2025.

The event was chaired by First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Nuran Niyazaliev and Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the Kyrgyz Republic Olivier Bangerter.

The Swiss side informed the officials of the Kyrgyz Republic about the results of the Strategy of cooperation between the two states for the period 2017-2021 and about the main directions of the new Cooperation Program for the period up to 2025, which includes projects in the fields of inclusive and sustainable economic development, public administration and service delivery, climate change and water resources. In particular, the plan is to improve access of small and medium-sized businesses to investment, business services, technology, support for women's entrepreneurship and skills development for youth, promotion of exports with a focus on sustainable agro-business, tourism, and the garment industry. Special attention will be directed to financing pilot basin plans with a focus on infrastructure of drinking water, wastewater, irrigation and planning of climate-resilient in cities.

During the meeting N.Niyazaliev expressed gratitude to the Government of the Swiss Confederation for provided support to the Kyrgyz Republic and emphasized the importance of further strengthening of bilateral cooperation in political, trade-economical and investment field, as well as achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. First Deputy Foreign minister stressed the importance of conformity of the Cooperation program between Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland for 2022-2025 with the goals and purposes of the recently adopted decrees of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and the strategic documents of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic. N. Niyazaliev also proposed to conduct regular monitoring of the implementation of the Cooperation Program between the two states in order to evaluate its implementation and necessary adjustments.
