Head of the Plenipotentiary Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic in Osh, Jalal-Abad and Batken regions Meerimbek Apyshov met with the head of the UN World Food Program Field Office in Osh Alexander Morozov.

On August 25, 2022, at the Plenipotentiary Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic in Osh, Jalal-Abad and Batken regions, a meeting was held between the head of the Plenipotentiary Representation Meerimbek Apyshov and the head of the UN World Food Program Field Office in Osh Alexander Morozov.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the state and prospects of WFP activities in the south of Kyrgyzstan, as well as the upcoming visits of UN country and regional coordinators in the south of the Kyrgyz Republic. Morozov stressed that the five-year work program of WFP in the Kyrgyz Republic is currently being completed, and the program for the next five years is being coordinated.

The parties exchanged views on holding an expanded coordination meeting in Osh with the participation of representatives of all representative offices of international organizations and their projects in the southern regions of Kyrgyzstan to discuss updates, problems and promising issues of cooperation and improve interaction between themselves and with local authorities.

In addition, issues of adaptation and integration of ethnic Afghan Kyrgyz resettled in the Chon-Alai region were discussed through the provision of food rations, training opportunities, working capital, as well as employment from WFP.
