Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan met with the President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to discuss joint projects

On June 18, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Korea Dinara Kemelova met with the President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Mr. Hyuk-Sang Sohn. During the meeting the parties discussed the progress of projects and perspective areas of cooperation for the coming years.

KOICA’s President said that in the beginning of this year, Kyrgyzstan has been included in the list of Priority Partner Countries of the Republic of Korea and noted the importance of a multisectoral approach in the implementation of projects. Ambassador Dinara Kemelova expressed gratitude for the assistance of the Korean side aimed at the development of villages and regions, agriculture, education, digitalization, fire safety, and other important socio-economic spheres, and asked for assistance in improving the automated electoral system of the Kyrgyz Republic, irrigation infrastructure and ensuring access of the people to clean water.

The two sides exchanged views on issues of capacity building of human resources and infrastructure, and also noted the importance of promoting healthcare projects especially during COVID-19 outbreak, IT, education and training of people.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue dialogue and cooperation.
