On May 14, 2019, in Seoul Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan Dinara Kemelova met with Mr. Chang Sang Cho, Vice-Head of Secretariat of the Presidential Committee on Northern Economic Cooperation.
During the meeting, D. Kemelova noted the importance of supporting such a partner as the Republic of Korea in the further development of democracy in the Kyrgyz Republic. Ambassador D.Kemelova  highly appreciated the initiative on the new northern policy of the Republic of Korea, and noted that in terms of trade and economic cooperation the Kyrgyz side is interested in promoting projects in the field of infrastructure, transport, environment, hydropower, digitalization, education and health.
Chang Sang Cho noted that in the post-Soviet space, Kyrgyzstan is the most developed democratic country. In his opinion, the Kyrgyz Republic accession to the World Trade Organization in 1998 earlier than some of the major countries in the region showed striving forward. The Republic of Korea has a great deal of respect for the efforts made by the Government of Kyrgyzstan. “The historical closeness of our peoples will also contribute to the development of friendly relations. At present, the level of mutual investment exchanges is small, but the potential of our cooperation is very large” - Chang Sang Cho added.
The parties discussed joint research to determine the prospects for trade and economic cooperation. The interlocutors also expressed confidence that as a result of the upcoming reciprocal visits, it will be possible to create a certain foundation for new-level cooperation and step up cooperation in opening direct flights between the capitals of the two countries, developing the digital economy, and also in investment cooperation in infrastructure, transport, energy, regional development and education.
