On April 29, 2023, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Germany, Mr. Omurbek Tekebaev, visited the Museum of the History of Russian-German Culture in Detmold, North Rhine-Westphalia, which exhibited exhibits by the famous sculptor of Kyrgyzstan of German origin, Jacob Wedel.

Ambassador Mr. O. Tekebaev held a meeting with the son of J.Wedel - Anatoly Wedel and representatives of the Museum. During the meeting, the Ambassador thanked A.Wedel for donating five exhibits of his father J.Wedel to the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G.Aitiev in Bishkek and presented the relevant Certificate and gratitude from the management of this Museum.

A.Wedel expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador and the leadership of the Museum of the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts, as well as his satisfaction that residents and guests of Bishkek can get acquainted with the work of his father J.Wedel.

For reference: Jacob Wedel (1931-2014) is a well-known sculptor of German origin, who previously lived in Kyrgyzstan. On March 31, 2023, a ceremony of presenting five sculptures by sculptor Jacob Wedel to the Museum of the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G.Aitiev took place in Bishkek. This gift was made possible thanks to his son Anatoly Wedel, who now lives in Detmold, Germany, according to the behest of his father.

The Museum of the History of Russian-German Culture in Detmold is the only museum in Germany about the history of Germans from the countries of the former Soviet Union. Jakov Wedel became one of the founders of this Museum, which houses his exhibits made of wood, plaster and bronze.
