On June 12, 2024, in Berlin, with the participation of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Federal Republic of Germany, an evening dedicated to the life and work of the outstanding world-class Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov took place.

The evening was organized jointly with the German Societies “Go East Generation e.V.”, “German-Russian Festival” and the management of the Abacus Hotel.

During the evening, a video film “In the footsteps of Chingiz Aitmatov” was shown, prepared by Sabina Geschke based on the results of her trip to Kyrgyzstan in 2023. The organizers of the event also presented a screening of a short plot from two films based on the story of the same name by Ch. Aitmatov “Djamilya”, filmed in 1969 by director Irina Poplavskaya and in 1994 by German director Monika Teuber.

Counselor of the Embassy Ainura Tursumbaeva in her speech noted the work of the Kyrgyz writer Ch. Aitmatov and thanked the meeting participants for their interest in the work of the Kyrgyz writer and Kyrgyzstan.

The embassy organized a small photo exhibition about Kyrgyzstan and musical performances with Kyrgyz national melodies performed by compatriot Isida Samat. Guests of the evening were shown a video film about Kyrgyzstan and tourist brochures about the country.
