Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Japarov held a working meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs needs to intensify work on economic diplomacy. Mr. Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, noted during a working meeting at the Foreign Ministry.

The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers reminded that according to the National Development Program until 2026 approved by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, the goal is to ensure the annual real economic growth rate of 5% on average with attraction of direct foreign investments not less than 13% of GDP (about 1.0 billion US dollars per year).

"In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been tasked to intensify economic diplomacy and strengthen activities, primarily in three main areas: attracting foreign investment, promoting the expansion of tourism flow, promoting exports of domestic products. We expect concrete results from you in solving socio-economic issues and solving the assigned tasks", he said, focusing on the promotion of textile production and production of bottled water.

Mr. Japarov emphasized that if the work of foreign diplomatic institutions is not carried out at the proper level, the country's leadership will draw appropriate conclusions at the end of the year.

During the working meeting the Ministry and foreign diplomatic missions have been tasked to:

-assist in ensuring food security of the country;

-attract investment, preferential loans, additional financial resources on favorable terms for creation of bilateral investment funds;

-develop an "export basket", taking into account the export potential of the coutry;

-implement until the end of 2022 a road map for the promotion of exports with specific targets;

-carry out activities in improving visa policies, simplifying the issuance of visas to citizens of countries with which Kyrgyzstan established mutually beneficial cooperation with;

-reduce the processing time of applications for tourist visas to at least 36 hours.
