On June 15, 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbek Kulubaev held a video conference meeting with ambassadors and heads of missions of the Kyrgyz Republic to the international organizations and consulates general of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The conference was held following the meeting of the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Japarov with the leadership of the MFA of the Kyrgyz Republic and was devoted to the discussion of the tasks set and specified by the Head of the Cabinet of Ministers in the area of economic diplomacy. It was stressed that the implementation of the set tasks is especially important in the light of new political, social and economic challenges associated with the geopolitical tensions in the world that require finding new approaches in responding to them.

Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev informed that the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers was provided with interim reports on implementation of tasks that he had set at the meeting on January 13 this year. It was emphasized that the work should be expressed in a meaningful contribution to the economic development and socio-economic stability of the country.

The Minister also informed the heads of diplomatic missions of the Kyrgyz Republic on the need to intensify work in the main areas of economic diplomacy in terms of attracting foreign investment, technology and know-how, expanding trade and economic relations, promoting exports of domestic products to foreign markets, increasing the flow of tourists. At the same time, the Minister stressed that the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers additionally instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to focus on finding ways to promote food security. The tasks to promote the development of the textile industry and exports of products produced in the country, including drinking water, were also specified.

Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev also stressed the importance of intensifying the work of Kyrgyz diplomatic missions in the development of political cooperation, cooperation on security issues and development of cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as the protection of the rights and interests of citizens abroad.

At the end of the meeting it was noted that at the end of the year the activities of each mission will be assessed, especially taking into account the results of work in the field of economic diplomacy.
