Toraga Dastanbek Djumabekov met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova Zinaida Greceanii

In the framework of the fourth meeting of speakers of the parliaments of the countries of Eurasia (Kazakhstan), Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dastanbek Djumabekov met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova Zinaida Grechana.

Toraga said that he was sincerely glad to meet and get to know Grecana and congratulated her on her election as the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. Djumabekov expressed hope that detailed meetings will help our countries to strengthen inter-parliamentary relations.

Toraga noted that Kyrgyzstan attaches particular importance to the development of friendly relations with Moldova on the basis of mutual trust and respect for each other's interests. According to him, Kyrgyzstan is interested in developing mutually beneficial and partnership cooperation with Moldova in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

“I am convinced that one of the paramount tasks of the parliaments of Kyrgyzstan and Moldova is the need to preserve and increase the invaluable legacy of strong friendship and inextricable fraternity that we have carried through many years of common history. And we must pass this heritage of the two peoples under the reliable guardianship of future generations, ”said Toraga.

According to Djumabekov, the development of inter-parliamentary relations plays an important role to strengthen relations between Kyrgyzstan and Moldova. He noted interest in further strengthening ties between the parliaments of the two states.

“One of the tasks of the Kyrgyz-Moldovan inter-parliamentary cooperation is the legislative support for the implementation of the agreements reached between the states not only at the bilateral, but also at the multilateral levels,” Toraga said.

Speaking about bilateral cooperation, Djumabekov suggested intensifying trade and economic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Moldova. Toraga regretted the low level of bilateral trade, which remains at 2 million US dollars per year.

In turn, the Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova, Zinaida Greceanii, proposed to intensify the work of the parliamentary Friendship groups.

“Our countries are united not only by the past, but also by the present. The two parliamentary republics should be in close contact. We have a Friendship Group with Asian countries in our parliament. I believe that our parliamentarians should meet and exchange experiences. I also want to invite you to officially visit Moldova, ”said Grechvanaya.

The head of the Moldovan parliament also noted that our countries can actively cooperate in the field of agriculture and work in a number of other areas.

Toraga Djumabekov accepted the invitation to visit Moldova.
