On October 23, 2022 in Seoul, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zheenbek Kulubaev met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Korea Pak Jin within his official visit to the Republic of Korea.

The meeting was held in the light of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and South Korea and the 15th anniversary of the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum.

Minister Kulubaev noted with satisfaction that this year Kyrgyzstan and South Korea celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, which are based on traditional friendship, spiritual and cultural closeness of the two peoples, the principles of mutual assistance and mutually beneficial cooperation. Kyrgyzstan highly appreciates and cherishes the friendly relations and mutual understanding established between the countries. During this period, the parties have achieved great success and certain results in many areas.

In order to continue the political dialogue, the parties expressed the need to continue the organization of mutual high level visits and summits. The two Foreign Ministers also discussed issues of further development and intensification of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas, in the field of healthcare and medicine, education, environment, tourism, digitalization, as well as attracting investments.

Minister Kulubaev noted that the potential for trade and economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and South Korea has great prospect. Kyrgyzstan is interested in increasing trade between the countries, in particular, exports of environmentally friendly products. In this regard, he proposed the promotion of various priority projects within the Official Development Assistance.

Minister Kulubaev also noted that in the nearest and mid-term future it is important to bring investment cooperation to a higher quality level and the Kyrgyz side hopes for South Korea's support in developing the business environment in Kyrgyzstan.

Minister Kulubaev stressed the need to further strengthen bilateral ties, to reach a new level of interaction between countries. Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the Cooperation Forum "Central Asia - Republic of Korea" and is interested in implementing joint projects through it. As part of the visit, on October 25, Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan will take part in the anniversary - 15th Cooperation Forum "Central Asia - the Republic of Korea" at the level of foreign ministers.
