On October 24, 2022, in the city of Seoul, as part of the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zheenbek Kulubaev to the Republic of Korea, a meeting was held with the Speaker of the National Assembly Kim Jin Pyo.

The parties noted with satisfaction the high dynamics of bilateral cooperation, placing special emphasis on the historical closeness and commonality of cultures of the two

Minister Zh. Kulubaev noted that the visit of the Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea Park Byeong-seug in April 2021 was a significant event in the history of Kyrgyz-Korean relations, and also expressed satisfaction with the trend of expanding inter-parliamentary relations between the countries.

During the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness for close cooperation in organizing mutual visits at high and highest levels, continue cooperation within international organizations, increase trade between the two countries, work to promote priority projects through Official Development Assistance and accelerate the opening of direct flights.

Minister Zh.Kulubaev noted the need to further strengthen bilateral ties, reach a new level of interaction between countries. He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum and is interested in implementing joint projects within its framework.

The minister also noted the great potential for trade and economic cooperation between the countries, which is promising both for Kyrgyzstan and South Korea. He suggested that the Governments of the two countries should work closely in this direction, expressing the hope that by joint efforts the parties will be able to increase the volume of trade. He emphasized that at present all necessary measures are being taken in Kyrgyzstan to create a favorable investment climate.

In general, the interlocutors held a productive dialogue on topical issues of further strengthening and development of the Kyrgyz-Korean bilateral cooperation, including inter-parliamentary relations.
