A round table of research institutes and centers was held in the format of Central Asia – Republic of Korea

On November 20, 2023, in Seoul, with the assistance of the Embassies of the Central Asian countries and the Secretariat of the Cooperation Forum "Central Asia – Republic of Korea", a round table was held with the participation of representatives of research institutes and centres in the format "Central Asia – Republic of Korea".

The delegation of Kyrgyzstan was headed by the Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Kanatbek Aziz. In his speech, he noted that the Republic of Korea, as a reference model of economic development, is very attractive for Kyrgyzstan. The "Miracle on the Hangan River" became an example of how in 30 years it is possible to turn from an agrarian country into a developed state, a leader in scientific and technological development. In turn, Kyrgyzstan may be of interest to Korean partners with the possibility of developing pharmaceuticals, tourism, green energy, exports of rare earth metals, cooperation in the field of investments and the implementation of major joint projects. In addition to economic projects, Kyrgyzstan is interested in projects in the field of education. Especially in the field of digital technologies, robotics, energy, business management.

In addition, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Korea Mrs. Aida Ismailova spoke at the event. In her speech, she stressed that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to participation in events within the framework of the Cooperation Forum "Central Asia – Republic of Korea". She noted the relevance and timeliness of this Round Table in the light of the intensification of cooperation between the Central Asian countries and Korea.  She expressed hope that this event will give an additional impetus to the effective continuation of the format of interaction, providing more opportunities for a comprehensive search for new areas of cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the Republic of Korea and their practical implementation. Aida Ismailova also noted that the development of cooperation with the Republic of Korea is one of the priorities of the Kyrgyz Republic's foreign policy and active work is currently underway to strengthen and expand bilateral relations.

The Round table was attended by the heads of the Institutes for Strategic Studies of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as ambassadors of the Central Asian countries and diplomats of the Korean Foreign Ministry, during which the participants discussed the state and prospects of cooperation in the Central Asian-ROK format.

Following the results of the event, a Joint statement was adopted, which reflects further steps to launch the Forum of Analytical Centres in the CA-ROK format on a regular basis.
