On June 10, 2020, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Korea Dinara Kemelova held a meeting with Mr. Kim Beomseok, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Northern Economic Cooperation

During the meeting, D. Kemelova noted the exemplary experience of South Korean Government in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and thanked the Government of South Korea for the humanitarian relief to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic for fighting against coronavirus. The Ambassador expressed Kyrgyzstan’s interest in cooperation with the Republic of Korea in the field of healthcare, in improving the Kyrgyz Republic’s capacity building for diagnosing infections, and in developing a network of hospitals.

Further, taking into account the potential in the priority areas of cooperation between two countries, D. Kemelova urged the Korean side to invest in projects of the Kyrgyz Republic in the fields of energy, infrastructure, logistics, agriculture, regional development, tourism, in improving the electoral process, etc.

In turn, Mr. Kim Bomsok emphasized that some previously submitted projects of the Kyrgyz Republic are currently being studied and some of them can be included in the investment platform of the Korean side.

Taking into account the 2020 announcements as the “Year of Northern Economic Cooperation” in the Republic of Korea, the Sides discussed the holding of events dedicated to this event and the participation of Kyrgyz delegations in them.
