On February 5, 2020, Mr. Janat Beishenov, Minister of Transport and Roads of the Kyrgyz Republic met with Mr. Mehmet Cahit Turhan, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Turkey.

During the meeting, current relations and the development of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey in the field of transport and communications were discussed, in particular, the issues of establishing intermodal transport from Kyrgyzstan to Turkey, the development of road and air communications, digitalization, mail, electronic commerce, etc.

The Kyrgyz side once again raised the issue of resuming Istanbul-Osh flights. Taking part in the meeting, Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev noted that this issue is under the control of the heads of state.

The Turkish side proposed to increase the frequency of passenger flights between the two countries, including along the Bishkek-Istanbul route, and also to establish cooperation in the field of digitalization, satellite broadcasting, electronic commerce, and mail.

The Kyrgyz side expressed its readiness to assist in establishing cooperation in these areas with the relevant ministries and institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The parties agreed to expedite the ratification of the Protocol of September 3, 2018, on amending the Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on the establishment of air communications, signed on October 14, 1994, in Ankara, as well as on the implementation of those agreements that were adopted under 9-th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and specified in the IGC Action Plan.
