On February 27, 2020, as part of the Commission on Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries (TurkPA) a workshop was held in the field of cinematography and animation in Ankara. The event was chaired by Member of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic/Head of the aforementioned TurkPA commission Sadyk Sher-Niyaz, which was also attended by parliamentarians and representatives of the cinema industry of Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkey.

The workshop discussed a draft model law on attracting foreign investment for the development of cinematographic and audiovisual works, as well as joint efforts on harmonization of laws of the TurkPA member countries and the possibility of exchanging experience in this area.

The participants agreed on the necessity of creating a common fund of Turkic-speaking countries in the field of cinematography, which will be aimed to sponsor common projects in the field of cinema and animation.
