Mrs. Aida Kasymalieva

Permanent Representative

of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Nations

 

Mrs. Aida Kasymalieva is a Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Nations since December 23, 2021.

In 2017, Mrs. Aida Kasymalieva was elected as a member of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of the Kyrgyz Republic, where she also held senior positions, including the post of vice speaker from 2018 to 2021 and the post of acting speaker in 2021. During the vice-presidency in the Parliament, she chaired the Council on Women's Rights and Prevention of Gender-Based Violence under the Speaker of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Early assignments include positions of correspondent at the Kyrgyz Service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, producer at the Al Jazeera in Kyrgyzstan, general producer at the New Television Network, correspondent at the Russian Service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and editor for Kyrgyzstan at the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR).

Author of series of articles on human rights, including rights of migrants, women, and children. Finalist of Developing Asia Journalism Awards by Asian Development Bank Institute and ADB in 2005 and 2006.

Mrs. Kasymalieva received her bachelor’s degree from the Bishkek Humanities University (Journalism, with honors) and she also holds master's degrees from the Diplomatic Academy named after K.Dikambaev under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic (International relations).
