On March 3, 2022, the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Nations in New York Aida Kasymalieva made a statement during the informal thematic consultations on the report of the Secretary-General entitled “Our Common Agenda” on the theme “Protecting our planet and being prepared for the future”.

In her speech, Permanent Representative noted the commitment of Kyrgyzstan to the goals of the Paris Agreement, in this regard she informed about the adoption in 2021 of the Nationally Determined Contribution of the Kyrgyz Republic, in accordance with which greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced in 2025.

Aida Kasymalieva also drew attention to the problems of mountainous countries in light of climate change. In this context, she informed about the initiatives of the Kyrgyz Republic on mountain sustainable development. She particularly mentioned the announcement by the UN General Assembly of 2022 as the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development and the intention of Kyrgyzstan to put forward a new resolution on the adoption of the "Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions".
