The Permanent Mission of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN organized an event on the occasion of the World Day of Social Justice

On February 20, 2024, the Permanent Mission of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN in New York, together with the International Labor Organization and the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, organized an event on the occasion of the World Day of Social Justice on the theme “Global Coalition for Social Justice: Bridging Gaps, Building Alliances”. The event was attended by representatives of more than 60 states, international and non-governmental organizations.

During the event, speeches were made by the President of the UN General Assembly Dennis Francis, ECOSOC President Paula Narvaez, ILO Director General Gilbert Houngbo, Permanent Representative of Belgium to the UN and Co-chair of the Group of Friends for Decent Work Philippe Kridelka, representatives of UN member states, International Organization of Employers, International Trade Union Confederation and others.

In his speech, the representative of the Permanent Mission of Kyrgyzstan to the UN informed the participants that in 2007, the Kyrgyz Republic initiated and, with the broad support of partners, achieved approval by the UN General Assembly of February 20 as World Day of Social Justice. He noted the ongoing work of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic to implement the relevant provisions of this UNGA resolution. In particular, he informed about specific social policy measures of the Kyrgyz authorities to ensure social development and justice.
