Deputy Minister Aibek Moldogaziev held meetings with representatives of the European Union institutions

On June 5-6, 2024, in Brussels, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Aibek Moldogaziev held meetings with representatives of the European Union institutions to discuss current issues on the bilateral cooperation agenda between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union.

During meetings with Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service Mr. E. Mora and Diplomatic Adviser to the President of the European Council Ms. M.Steinberg, the parties discussed a wide range of bilateral and interregional cooperation issues.

At the meetings, the parties addressed relevant topics on the bilateral agenda aimed at further expanding the partnership and cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Union. The Kyrgyz side provided information on the ongoing reforms in the country, achievements in the economy, and major infrastructure projects of strategic importance for the country's further dynamic development.

The parties agreed to continue working closely together to enhance cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, digitalization, education, and innovation.

Both parties noted with satisfaction the progress in implementing the agreements previously reached at the highest levels and reviewed the calendar of contacts at various levels, including within the existing mechanisms of bilateral and interregional cooperation.

The European side expressed its readiness to consider the Kyrgyz side's request to simplify the visa regime, particularly reducing its cost for Kyrgyz students.

Discussing the results of the Investor Forum held in early 2024, the parties expressed their intention to continue working on strengthening transport connectivity also by means of creation of a special coordination platform.

During the visit, a meeting was also held at the Directorate-General for International Partnerships of the European Commission. During the meeting, the parties held constructive discussions on projects being implemented in the Kyrgyz Republic and joint activities in the field of hydropower and environmental protection.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to expand and further fruitful cooperation.
