Joint Statement of the Presidents of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey on the Occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey

December 23, 2021 marks thirtieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey that was the first country to recognize the Kyrgyz independence, to establish diplomatic relations and to open the first embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic. Over the past three decades, relations between two countries have developed rapidly and steadily in all fields based on their shared history, culture and kinship.

The establishment of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey on April 26, 2011 constituted an important milestone further accelerating the realization of the deep potential of their strategic partnership, by strengthening high-level political dialogue, deepening economic cooperation and fostering comprehensive cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

Regular mutual high-level visits and effective cooperation mechanisms such as the Joint Economic Council and Joint Strategic Planning Group have enabled brotherly countries to expand their bilateral agenda and deliver mutually beneficial outcomes on all issues of common interest.

Inter-parliamentary events and regular mutual visits between the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Turkish Grand National Assembly have also become an increasingly important component of the Kyrgyz-Turkish relations.

The Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey are actively cooperating in the military-technical sphere and in the field of security, which today has become a significant factor of stability and security in the region.

The Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey have demonstrated exemplary solidarity in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and mitigating its negative impact on their citizens, trade and transportation. They will continue to cooperate closely and further their solidarity.

The Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey, taking into account their similar positions within the international and regional organizations, are ready to strengthen cooperation in the multilateral forms for further democratizing the system of international relations and promoting the norms and principles of international law.

Our countries support the central coordinating role of the UN in ensuring peace, security and sustainable development, further increasing the efficiency of its activities. We stand for multilateral and collective approaches for addressing the urgent global and regional problems, while respecting the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of states, and rejecting the policy of economic restrictions.

The Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Türkiye strongly condemn terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. They believe that effective counteraction to this scourge is possible only when they act together, without politicization and double standards, also with strict and unwavering observance of the provisions of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.

The Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey, as active participants in a number of international organizations, also cooperate for promoting new initiatives within the Organization of Turkic States through consistent consultations and joint action aimed at deepening cooperation and solidarity within the Turkic world and furthering development of political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties among the member states.

The Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey will continue joint work aimed at increasing the role and efficiency of the Organization of Turkic States.

The Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey confirm their desire to further strengthening of their bilateral strategic cooperation as well as their dialogue and cooperation in the multilateral forms in order to promote the sustainable development, stability and prosperity of both states.
