Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbek Kulubaev took part in the 26th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization

January 24, 2023 in Tashkent, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic J.M.Kulubayev attended the 26th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

According to the agenda, the participants considered the issues of intensifying regional cooperation in trade, transport, investment, "green" economy, digitalization, energy, food. The results of Uzbekistan's chairmanship in the ECO were summed up. 

In his speech, the head of the Kyrgyz delegation stressed that Kyrgyzstan supports the activities of ECO as a regional mechanism of multilateral cooperation in the economic sphere, as well as is interested in enhancing trade and economic relations with the member states of the Organization. 

Due to the fact that one of the priority areas of joint activities in the ECO is the transport and logistics sector, 

M. Kulubayev supported the implementation of projects for the development of transport corridors "East-West" and "North-South", opening for Central Asian countries access to seaports of the Gulf. 

In addition, he noted the importance for the Kyrgyz side of the project to build the railroad "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan", included in the ECO Program of Action for the development of transport and communications in the ECO region.

In addition, Minister J.M. Kulubaev also informed the meeting participants about the "green" initiatives of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic S.N. Japarov. At the suggestion of the Kyrgyz side, the final document of the 26th meeting of the ECO Ministerial Council known as the Tashkent Communiqué supported the implementation of the resolution of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly "Sustainable Mountain Development: Declaring 2023-2027 as the Five Year Action for Development". The resolution of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly "Sustainable Mountain Development: Declaring 2023-2027 as the "Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions" was initiated by the Kyrgyz Republic.
