Kyrgyzstan declares 19 September a day of national mourning

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov has signed a decree declaring September 19, 2022, as a day of national mourning in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The armed conflict that took place from 14-17 September 2022 in the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border in Batken oblast resulted in the death of Kyrgyz citizens.

Deeply grieving for the victims and expressing condolences to their relatives and friends, it is decided

- To declare 19 September 2022 as a day of national mourning in the Kyrgyz Republic;

- On the day of national mourning on the entire territory of the country, as well as on the buildings of diplomatic and consular institutions abroad, to lower the State flags of the Kyrgyz Republic;

- To recommend cultural institutions and television and radio companies to cancel entertainment events and programmes on the day of national mourning.
