Kyrgyz Language Day in India

On 13 September 2019, the Kyrgyz language evening was held at the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in India on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the law on the status of the Kyrgyz language.

The event was attended by the compatriots living in India and the Indian guests of the Embassy.

Opening the event, Ambassador Asein Isaev emphasized the role of the state language in the life and activity of the country, the measures taken by the Government to expand the use of the Kyrgyz language in state activities, as well as the history of the formation of the Kyrgyz language and its linguistic features.

There were given examples of a comparative analysis of the development of the Kyrgyz language with other languages and noted distinctive features.

It was emphasized that due to the poetry of the Kyrgyz language, its special expressiveness and diversity, the emergence of an “ocean-like” epos “Manas” and the phenomenon of Chingiz Aitmatov became possible, whose works are considered the most translated into the languages of the world.

Within the framework of the event, reading of fragments of works of the Kyrgyz language and literature classics were organized, the game “Arkan Tartu” of the Kyrgyz people, as well as a conversation with the participants of the event about the importance of the Kyrgyz language in everyday life, careful and reverent attitude towards it.

Participants of the event expressed their position on the use of the Kyrgyz language. As our compatriots noted, they instill a love of the state language for children from childhood, do not lose touch with their homeland and regularly visit Kyrgyzstan.
