On 21 August, 2019 in Nur Sultan the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Chingiz Aidarbekov has met with the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale.
The parties expressed their readiness to increase cooperation on the relevant issues of bilateral relations. They confirmed their interest in intensifying negotiations on preparations for the signing of a basic agreement on cooperation between the two countries.
The American side expressed its support for democratically elected institutions and the rule of law in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the fight against corruption conducted by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic S.Zheenbekov. The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in continuing cooperation on the return of active assets illegally exported from Kyrgyzstan. The possibilities of investment cooperation, attracting of American business to Kyrgyzstan, as well as regional security issues have been also discussed.
The meeting was held in the frames of the High-Level Meeting “Central Asia - USA”.
