Embassy headed by Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, took part in the events dedicated to the 950th anniversary of the Victory of Malazgirt

By invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey on 23-25 August 2021 the Embassy, headed by Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, took part in the events dedicated to the 950th anniversary of the Victory of Malazgirt, which were held in Mus province and in Ahlat region of the Bitlis province.

In Ahlat region, yurts were installed, in which representatives of 10 diplomatic missions - Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Paraguay, Bangladesh, Tanzania, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, international and public organizations, mayor’s offices of various Turkish cities demonstrated products of national culture (costumes, musical instruments, handicrafts, jewelry, dishes, etc.). Along with this, in the yurt of the Embassy, photographs with information about the country and reflecting its history and culture, national dishes as well were exhibited, a video clip about the country was shown, national compositions were played, brochures and booklets about the tourism potential of Kyrgyzstan were distributed.

Theatrical performances, folk games, archery on horse, Turkic sports competitions, as well as kok boru with the participation of ethnic Kyrgyz from the Uluu Pamir village of Van province.

On August 25, 2021, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, accompanied by Vice-President of Turkey Fuat Oktay and Speaker of Parliament Mustafa Sentop, took part in a solemn event in Ahlat, which was also attended by the heads of ministries Turkey, diplomatic missions, international and public organizations, member of Turkish parliament, governors of provinces, mayors of cities, guests, etc.

For reference: On August 26, 1071, the Seljuk Turks defeated the Byzantine army. The defeat of the Byzantines in the Battle of Malazgirt marked the beginning of the process of mass migration of the Turks to Anatolia and after their domination in this territory.
